Given my love for Space Hulks it was only natural that I wanted to theme my Cult after one.
The vision for my cult is that a Dark Angel's Space Marine Terminator Kill Team had purged and scuttled a Genestealer infested Space Hulk (Yet to be named). Wreckage from the hulk crashed onto a nearby planet but was not investigated for risk by the local populous, as to do so would be perceived as a slight to the Marines honour and effectiveness. The wreckage was not harmless however, a single Genestealer had survived and would grow into a Patriarch.
After finishing the basses I was able to assemble my first two Cultists! These are Acolyte Hybrids armed with a Rock Saw and Rock Cutter!!!
I am excited to get more built!

So I managed to get the Cult's Command built last night. I did some mild customization by removing the "plates" from the feet of some models so that they don't look out of place on my basses. I am completely satisfied with these sculpts and didn't have any desire to customize them. That is a BIG deal for me!
I cut the silhouette of the Primarch's vent out of base that I made for the Patriarch so that the it fits flush with the base I made, and isn't perched strangely on top. Next I will be adding skulls and the interesting looking web/slime to smooth the transition from model to base.

I finished up the Patriarch's base by adding in some skulls and using GS to sculpt the slime/cobweb looking stuff onto them that is present on the base model. Not bad for a guy who can barely see what he is doing! LOL. I also filled the broken pipe with GS.
Neophyte Hybrid leader and Medic Icon Bearer built. I did my first real conversion for this kill team on the Icon bearer. I thought that the Neophyte Icon was a little plain so I swapped the top of it with the Acolyte's banner. Pinned it, which was a scary experience, but i'm glad that I did.

I REALLY struggle making decisions when it comes to equiping models, and with my Kill Team community being What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) I feel even more pressured. So... I decided to try my hand at magnetizing, and it seems to have gone pretty well. All three of these Heavy weapons are magnetized and don't look it (IMHO). I just need to decide how/if I want to magnetize the backpacks...
The next challenge will be to magnetize the Special weapons
(Flamers, Grenade Launcher, & ?Webber).

I decided to commit and build the Flamer and Grenade Launcher rather than magnetizing.
I decided, after A LOT of back and forth to build a Metamorph with the Metamorph Claw! I LOVE the way this looks, the Str 6 isn't bad either. I also decided to give him a hand flamer. The plan is to drill an eye out of him and call him "old one eye" after my favourite old school metal Carnifax model.
I then built a Metamorph Leader, who I am VERY excited to get into Close Combat with!
And finally... here is the family shot to date.

I have been having fun building these Hybrid Metamorph, they seem like they are going to be Close Combat Monsters (Pun intended), IF they can make it there. I noticed that in the rules they have Rending Claws and Talons, but the kit does not have the pieces to represent this accurately. As such, I did a cool (IMHO) little conversion where I cut the back right Rending claw off just below the shoulder and replaced it with a Talon. I am VERY happy with the conversion!
And here is a shot of the Hybrid Metamorph models together.
I have 4 more Neophyte Hybrids to assemble in order to have all of my models built. I am thinking that I would like to but some Aberrants next to add more variety/build options to the team, and to ensure that I have everything I need for the Space Hulk mission that uses the GSC.January 8th, 2020
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO these are cool! I was thinking back, and i'm pretty sure that I have had my eye on these models for 2-3 years!!! I am very happy to finally have them!
Here is my first WIP.
January 11th, 2020
So I caved and converted an Aberrant! And I didn't just do a little either! His left arm is not original, neither is his power pick from the elbow down, and the talon used to be where the pick is.
I love that Aberrants start to mutate when the Hive Fleet draws near, and it gave me some cool ideas. My cult is modelled after the Cult of the Four-Armed Emperor which is all about ambush and being sneaky. I also love that Hive Fleets weaken planets before they arrive, and that they use a lot of subterfuge. My favourite fluff on this topic is for a Lictor named Death Leaper, and since I can't take him or other Lictors in a GSC Kill Team, I made my Aberrant and others look as though they are changing into them.
So now I am pretty much done building. I want to finish the other Aberrant's basses, and I am still undecided about how to build my last 4 Acolyte Hybrids...
Next up is building a Command Roster and getting these guys into action!!!
And of course getting paint on them at some point.

The Aberrant basing is complete! standard looking weathered Space Hulk feel. One guy was standing on rocks so I needed to cut them away and build some pipes to make up the height and keep him in line with the Space Hulk aesthetic that I have created. I also decided to use the cracked skulls to represent how strong they are for extra fun.

I had high hopes and worries about being able to convert/update an old school Genestealer for the Cult. I removed the original arms and head! The right set of arms was a nice and simple pin and glue. For the left arms I need to use two separate sets arms from the Acolyte set, chop them, and individually pin and glue them in place. I also took the Acid Maw head from the Acolyte sprue. I drilled and cut the base model so that the head fit nicely.
The flow/dynamic pose of the model has me really excited about this conversion! To finish this guy off I need a little bit of GS work to fill the gaps around the arms, and most likely a skull on the base.
I also build the last 4 Neophytes. I gave one a shotgun, and the other 3 Autoguns. And with that, I am officially done assembling all of the models I presently have for my GSC!
In terms of next steps.... I want to get some paint on these guys, but I am also throwing around the idea of getting more Neophytes in order to convert them into Characters rather than spending $30-40 each on them... It's that or another box of Acolytes to get more Heavy rock weapons... Stay tuned! :)
