I have been SO excited about this war band that I have been putting off assembling them for fear of not doing them justice! I was finally able to give my head a shake and assembled them last night, and I LOVE them!!!! Next up is a grey base coat.
I played the guardians in a tournament and came in last, but had an absolute blast with them!
I have GW Revenants on the way, and I am planning on customizing the Axe to a glave!!! Stay tuned
I just got my hands on some GW Tree Revenants and knew instantly that the Protector Glaive was meant to be! NOW my war band is ready for some paint!
The plan is to stick with the blue/green theme that I used on the other Warbands. The Revenats will have glowing blue/green skin in the same style as the SG’s bones, and their weapons will be the same... I’m just not too sure about the spites yet...June 26th, 2019
This doesn't come as a great surprise really, but I am undecided as to whether I should paint these model's skin in the Underworlds blue that I like, OR in the slightly more green hue that they are done in by GW, and tweak it a little to make it more OSL...
I could then perhaps paint the Spites blue....Hmmm...

I put panit/brush to model! I based with Gauss Blaster green and slowly worked up the layers with white. I added the Dryad bark to see if the contrast helps to emphasize the WIP OSL... It is going to
look cool IMHO! I am thinking that the weapons will not be OSL as I had originally planned. So now I will need to think about what I want them to look like...

I used some coliel green wash to add contrast to the "spirit skin" and finished up the bark by adding Rackshade earth to Dryad Bark in thin layers, I finished off with a semi wash. The tips of the branches used dryad bark with gradual additions of green and ended with pure moot green and an agrax earth shade wash. I think I am going to lighten the green a little more, but i'm not completely sure yet...
I was REALLY shocked when I saw the Warden beside one of the Guardians! What a size difference!
Now I need to think about how to paint the weapons and spites...

I decided to keep with the forest spirit feel with the weapons and Amphora. I think I will paint the Spite blue OSL like the skeletons... Pretty happy with this model so far...

ONE!!! A, A, AHHH! I'm liking the cherry blossoms, and just about everything else! Wong grey stones started with WG and Black, finished with a Colia and Agrax earth shade wash. Moss was green and black mix lightened with Rack Flesh, washed with wash mentioned above. Now the BIG question! Who's next!?
I made a start on the second Guardian's bark.

I almost have two Guardian's finished! Still a long way to go for the War Band, but I am happy with the look so far!

98% finished Ylthari! I just need to tidy up her OSL and she is ready to roll (Crits!). I was also thinking that I may change the green gem in the staff to the regular glow that the models have... I'm not that happy with it as is. I am however almost 3/4 done the war band!!!!
I played a 3 way battle earlier this week and WON! I think it's true that painted models perform better! To further support the theory, the only model that died was the unpainted one!!!

Exciting times! Ylthati's guardians are 99% complete! I thought they were 100%, but I keep finding things I want to change/fix! Ahnslaine has her water affect base completed and I am calling her almost done... She has a rune on her leg that I need to paint as OSL, and I need to add OSL to the base from the Spite.
I repainted the Spite on Galla... to green after deciding that I like the uniformity of that as opposed to the spites being blue like my original plan. I am VERY happy with this decision. 100% done!
