So, I know that the majority of Goblin players are supposed to be viewed as "disposable", but I just can't help thinking that having an apothecary on the team is a good idea.
I want to be able to look after the players that I see as being less disposable, such as the Trolls, Pogoer, Fanatic, Loonie, etc...
And of course I would be lying if I said that the opportunity to be able to model a Night Goblin Apothecary wasn't REALLY exciting for me.
I wanted to have an element of fun and irony to this little guy. I was looking to create a duality to the model where he looks ominous (as much as a Night goblin is able to look ominous), and is simultaneously offering support. So after A LOT of deliberation and brain storming I decided to go with a Grimm reaper theme to the conversion. I envisioned the Night goblin with his face hidden within his hood, holding a scythe in one hand, and offering a mushroom potion in the other...
For the conversion I used a standard Night goblin body, and cut his face off! I then used Green Stuff to flatten the area down where his face used to be in order to represent an empty looking hood.
Next I needed to make a scythe. I started by using a Night Goblin's spear arm and removed the spear head, I then took a Night Goblin sword blade and sculpted it to resemble a scythe blade. Next, I used wire and more GS to sculpt the rest of the scythe's haft and to attach the blade.
After sculpting the scythe and empty faced hood, I wanted to have something that would tie the goblin back into his role as Apothecary. I started with a Night Goblin's bow arm, and removed the bow. I finished the conversion off by pinning the potion bottle from the Night Goblin box set to the now empty bow hand and used GS to sculpt fingers and a thumb holding the bottle. I am also throwing around the idea of having skulls lying around on the base to add even more character to the piece.
