I managed to get a nice start on Magore and his Fiends last night. Brass for the win! 3 layers of highlights to get the ball rolling (Black and brass base, straight brass, finished with brass and shinning gold mix). I dry brushed the brass first so that I could focus on the look I wanted without having to worry about being too clean. Next up is the red!

RED! Khorne red and black mix for the base colour, Thinned Khorne red highlight, Thinned Ruby Red highlight, Ruby red and yellow (orange) final highlight.

Gave the red a wash with watered down sepia, based the last warrior, and gave the Flesh hound a base coat. Also managed to get some purple into Magore's stomach/mouth. I'm excited to paint app of the glowy skulls and OSL on these guys! I was thinking that I will use water effects on the basses to make it look like the skulls are floating.
The plan is to highlight the black on the top of the model, and then highlight with red/purple on the lower half to create the transition seen on the GW pic. I NEED some new brushes BADLY, so I will have to try and pick some up...

Reds are highlighted, and shaded with sepia, Brass has been touched up and also washed with sepia. made a nice start on the basses with blue grey/black, highlighted with wolf grey (about 4 increments), washed with straight badab black. While I was waiting for the bases to dry between layers I painted the glowing yellow eyes on the two helmeted fellows. Pretty happy with everything so far!

I'm really getting work done on these guys! I have painted the leather, skin, and glowy skulls on the basses! I am REALLY happy with the skulls, I did a dark blue base for the water, and did a watered down blue wash to sit in the edges and look glowy. I started with a wolf grey base for the skulls, washed the skulls with my favourite blue, then set to gradually adding Wolf grey to the blue, up to pure wolf grey again (probably about 4 transitions). I can't wait to add the skulls to the models themselves and get the OSL done so the effect really pops. Looking at the pics, I may hit the basses with another badab black wash to increase the contrast. Next up is black boots and Magore's cloak.

Worked on the metals, added some rust. I feel I still have a way to go with them... Scratches, dents, etc... finished the boots, and made a start on the skulls! I'm thinking that I would like to add some damage to the red and brass armour too...Dents, scratches etc... to reflect the warbands brutal nature...Maybe even some blood splatters!?
